We are excited to introduce Group Mentions in Pulse! Whether you are a region manager sharing an announcement or an administrator coordinating a team shift, you can mention an entire group in a post or comment, notifying everyone in that group instantly 🔔💬
👥 Who Can Use Group Mentions?
To ensure communications remain relevant and organized, the ability to tag groups is limited by role permissions:
Org Admins & Pulse Editors:
Can tag and mention any group across the entire organization.
Group Admins & Group Super Admins:
Can tag any group that they personally administer.
Regular Users:
Will not see groups in the dropdown menu. Your experience remains exactly the same—you can continue to tag individual colleagues as usual.
✍️ How to Tag a Group in a Post or Comment
You can use group mentions on both the Web and Mobile platforms.
Start drafting a post or comment in Pulse.
Type the @ symbol.
The autocomplete dropdown will display two clearly labeled sections: People at the top, and Groups right below it.
Scroll or keep typing to find your group. You will see a group icon, the group’s name, and the total member count (for example:
Oslo Store · 14 members).
Select the group to insert it. It will appear as a bold, blue @GroupName tag in your text editor.
💡 Tip for Large Groups: > If you tag a group with more than 100 members, Pulse will show you an assistive warning before you publish: "This will notify [N] people." This helps you double-check before sending a notification to a massive audience.
🔔 How Notifications Work (For Recipients)
When a group is tagged, Pulse handles the notification delivery in the background to keep everyone aligned without spamming them.
Who receives the notification?
To protect user privacy and ensure relevance, notifications are sent only to users who meet all of the following criteria:
They are an active member of the tagged group.
They are a member of the specific Pulse channel/group where the post is published (observers are excluded).
They are not the author of the post or comment (you will never receive a notification for a post you wrote yourself).
What does the notification look like?
Eligible group members will receive a standard, "loud" mobile push notification:
For a post:
"[Author Name] mentioned your group in a Pulse post"
For a comment:
"[Author Name] mentioned your group in a Pulse comment"
Smart Deduplication
Don't worry about spamming your team! If a user is tagged individually and is also part of a tagged group in the same post or comment, Pulse's smart delivery ensures they will only receive one notification.
