Organizing your groups effectively is key to a streamlined MotiSpace. Our intuitive Group Tree View allows you to easily move groups to new locations within your organizational hierarchy, while the system automatically adjust the group levels for you 🪄
Please note:
- Moving a group will not affect assignments already existing for the group. All assigned learnings will still be assigned after the move.
- If the group you move have child-groups, these will follow as well.
- If you plan to move a group to a new location so that the group will get new parent groups, you should consider how you have designed your group structure. Are users in a group always also members in all the parent groups? If so, you might need to make sure this structure is maintained after you move the group, by adding the users to the new parent groups as necessary. Don't forget to also remove them from any old parent/child groups if applicable.
Follow these simple steps to move a group:
- Navigate to MotiSpace Settings:
Click on the cogwheel icon (⚙️) located in the top right corner of your platform.
- From the left-hand panel, select Groups and then click on Tree View.
Locate the Group:
In the Group Tree View, expand the group hierarchy until you find the specific group you wish to move.
Please note:
Groups marked as 'Imported' can not be moved, since this indicates that the group was imported and may be part of an active integration, and therefore can only be moved via the integration. If you are certain that this is not the case, let the Support Team know, and they can remove the 'Imported' status for you so that you can move the group again.- Access Options:
Click the "..." options button next to the group you want to move, then select Move group from the dropdown menu.
- Choose New Parent:
You will then be prompted to select the target group where you want to move the current group into.
- Confirm Level Correction:
After selecting the new parent group, you will be asked if you wish to automatically correct the group level. Simply choose Fix levels, and the system will handle the rest, ensuring the group's level in the hierarchy is adjusted correctly.
- Congratulations ✨
You have successfully moved your group!
- Repeat as Needed:
Repeat these steps for each group you wish to move.
