The Pulse Insights page is your central hub for measuring activity and engagement within your organization's Pulse feeds. Use these metrics to identify top engagers, understand content effectiveness, and track overall user engagement 🧑💻👍
1. The Overview
The main Pulse Insights dashboard is divided into 7 sections, providing key metrics about the Pulse activity across your organisation.
All metrics are based on activity from active users (unless otherwise noted).
- Total Posts (Activity volume)
- Likes and Comments (Interaction volume)
- Popular hashtags
- Top Engagers (Users who interact the most)
- Top Groups Feeds (Groups with the highest collective engagement score)
- Top Creators (Users who make the most impactful content)
- Top Posts (Content that generated the most engagement)
The entire dashboard (or individual sections) can be exported as PDF or Excel/CSV files (from Web only).
1.2 Global Filtering
The filters applied at the top of the Pulse Insights page affect all sections, graphs, and tables simultaneously.
| Filter | Default Setting | Options and Rules |
|---|---|---|
| By Time | This Month | Options: Today, This week, This month, This quarter, This year, Previous day, Previous week, Previous month, Previous quarter, Previous year. |
| By Level | All levels | Select all group levels or any individual group level. Admins will only see levels they have access to. |
| By Group | All groups | Allows selection of up to 30 groups simultaneously. When groups are selected, results show data only for those selected groups and exclude any sub-groups. If no groups are selected, data is shown for all groups within the selected Level. |
| By Alias | Hidden (or All) | Only visible if your organization uses the sub-organization feature (aka. "Alias"). Only one alias can be selected at a time, and only groups belonging to that alias will appear in the By Group dropdown. |
Default Filters:
When you first open the dashboard, the default filters are set to This Month, All Levels, and All Groups.
1.3 Engagement Metrics Sections
Total Posts
This section tracks the overall volume of new posts published during the selected period.
Likes and Comments
This section reflects the overall interaction volume.
Note: These numbers reflect all likes and comments, regardless of whether the user is active or inactive.
Popular Hashtags
This section provides insight into the most popular topics of discussion.
Please note:
Using the same hashtag multiple times within a single post only counts as one use for that hashtag. (e.g., #lemon #lemon #lemon counts as 1).
1.4 Top Performers and Content
The following tables use specific formulas to calculate an Engagement Score or Creator Score, allowing the system to rank users, content, and groups.
Top Engagers
This table identifies the Top 10 most active users—those who primarily react to, interact with, and consume content created by others.
How is the Engagement Score calculated?
Different types of engagement are weighted differently, and therefore contributes to the Engagement Score as follows:
- Post Likes: 1 score point
- Comments Made: 10 score points
- Comment Likes Received: 7 score points
| Rank | User Name | Post Likes Given | Comments Made | Comment Likes Received | Engagement Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | User A | 50 | 15 | 30 | 410 |
| 2 | User B | 60 | 10 | 35 | 405 |
In the example above, the Engagement Score for User A is calculated as follows:
(1×50) + (10×15) + (7×30) = 410
Top Groups Feeds
This table ranks the Top 10 most active and engaged groups (feeds) in your organization.
How is the Group Engagement Score calculated?
The Group Engagement Score for a group equals the total sum of the User Engagement Score for every member of that group.
Visibility Rules:
- This table is hidden if the admin manages only one group with no sub-groups.
- If the admin's group has sub-groups, the table is shown and contains only the groups the admin can access.
Top Creators
This table identifies the Top 10 most impactful content creators—those who generate original content that receives significant attention from others.
How is the Creator Score calculated?
Different types of engagement on a user's post(s) from others are weighted differently, and therefore contributes to the Creator Score as follows:
- Total Posts Made: 2 score points
- Likes Received: 1 score points
-
Comments Received: 10 score points
(Comments or Likes made by the post creator on their own post are included in the received count)
| Rank | User Name | Posts | Post Likes Received | Comments Received | Creator Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | User A | 10 | 500 | 80 | 1320 |
| 2 | User B | 60 | 10 | 35 | 480 |
In the example above, the Creator Score for User A is calculated as follows:
(2×10) + (1×500) + (10×80) = 1320

| Rank | Post Title | Post Likes | Post Comments | Post Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Post A | 250 | 40 | 650 |
| 2 | Post B | 360 | 10 | 460 |
In the example above, the Post Score for Post A is calculated as follows:

1.5 Ranking and No Activity Scenarios
Ranking Tie Breaker
If two or more users, posts, or groups have an identical engagement score, they will receive the same rank, and the next item will skip a rank (Dense Rank logic).
- Example Output: 1 (User A), 1 (User B), 2 (User C), 3 (User D).
Handling No or Limited Activity
-
Zero Activity:
If no posts, comments, or likes were made during the selected period (all scores are 0), the lists for Top Posts, Top Engagers, Top Creators, and Top Groups Feeds will be empty. The section title will display a central message:"No data available for this selection"
-
Limited Activity (Fewer than 10):
Only the users or posts that generated a score greater than zero will be displayed.
