Our new Public API v2 (PAPI v2) is now launched, providing a more flexible and helpful service ✨
You can find the Documentation for PAPI v2 here.
What will be new?
With PAPI v2, you get access to a wider scope of data across more endpoints. Specifically, you will now be able export more data out, as well as gaining more control over your MotiSpace via the API.
What must you do?
Nothing yet. For the time being, we have simply launched the new version and allowing those who are interested to start using it. No changes will be forced upon anyone at this time. Please read further down to find out more about the expected timeline, and when we will be expecting everyone to take action to upgrade (this timeline is still only provisional).
How can I test v2 without fully upgrading?
In order to start making use of PAPI v2 while still technically being integrated with v1, the HTTP header motimate-public-api-version must be set to: v2.
Once you are ready to permanently move to v2, let Support know and they will configure this in the back-end so that this header becomes obsolete.
If you have tested v2 while it was in beta, you need not make any changes, since v2 has not changed from the beta version.
Will upgrading to v2 require big changes to our existing v1 implementation?
Transitioning to PAPI v2 shouldn't require major changes as it's primarily smaller adjustments on the use of our Users
, Groups
, and Positions
endpoints. That being said, customers using 3rd party developers on consultants, will naturally require some time to update and test their integrations.
What's changing with regards to the authentication?
Nothing, as long as you're already using PAPI v1, you will still use the same credentials you received from the Motimate team when you first requested access to the API in order to obtain your 24h authentication tokens.
Will v1 be deprecated? What is the timeline?
In the first instance, we have simply launched PAPI v2 and allow users to upgrade and start using it.
Sometime further down the line, we will make an announcement to inform that we will be deprecating v1, and from that time we will allow a 6 month transition period for all users to move to v2. Note that this is a provisional plan, which is subject to change.
