Have a published Moti which users have already started or completed, but want to make some changes to it? Worry not - we have ensured that you can seamlessly update your live Moti without it affecting your users, and even decide whether or not users who has already completed the Moti needs to come back to review the new content you have made or not.
This is done by creating a draft version of the Moti, which will work like a clone of the whole Moti. You make your changes in this draft version, before publishing the draft to replace the live version when everything is ready. At the end of this article, we will explain how the decisions you make along the way will impact your users' completion data.
To create a draft for a published Moti and then publish it, follow these steps:
- Open Motimate Studio and find the published Moti you wish to update.
-
Once you go to the Editor tab, you will be prompted with a message asking if you wish to create a Draft.
- If you click Cancel or X, but change your mind, you can find the Create a draft button in the top left corner while in the Editor tab.
- Please note that you won't be allowed to create a draft if you have any translated versions of the Moti which haven't yet been approved. You can read more about translations here.
- If you click Cancel or X, but change your mind, you can find the Create a draft button in the top left corner while in the Editor tab.
- Confirm by clicking the Create a draft button.
- Go to the chapter you want to update and click Edit chapter, or create a brand new chapter.
You can now make your changes, just like when you create a new or unpublished Moti. -
When you are happy with the changes you've made, click Save.
- You now need to publish the draft to set it live. To do so, click the Approve and publish draft button.
- You will now be presented with a dialog box where you are asked to indicate what type of changes you have made, which will have a direct impact on:
- which users that will be notified of this change
You need to tick the Send push notifications box in order for users to be notified. What you choose here will apply only to the promotion of this draft, and will not change the overall notification setting for the Moti. You can read more about notifications here.
- what actions will users have to take
Important Updates
This option will notify all users who have started or completed the Moti already, and reset their Moti completion data. Everyone have to re-take the course from the beginning.
New chapters
This option will notify users who have started or already completed the Moti, that there are new chapters for them to complete. Their completion score (%) will be adjusted to account for the new chapters, but their completion of original chapters will not be affected. When users open the Moti, those who had already completed the whole course will simply be taken to the first of the new chapters, and the chapter progress overview on the left side will indicate which chapters they need to complete in order to again get a 100% completion score for the Moti.
(This option should only be used when new chapters have actually been added to the Moti, otherwise nobody will be notified).
Minor updates
This option will not notify anyone, nor have any consequences for any users' scores or progresses. This is the option you want to use if you have made small updates to the course that users aren't required to review. The course will update, but nothing else will happen.
- which users that will be notified of this change
- Click the Publish button to finalize the publishing of the draft. Your changes are now published, and users will be notified based on the notification settings.
Congratulations! You have successfully updated your published Moti 🎉
